Who are the Modcasters?
We’re a group of graduate students studying English Literature and Language on a mission to discuss literature, provide access to the those on the deafness and/or blindness spectrum, and rock mustachios. For more about who makes up our team, click here.

Why was the Modcast created?
Our goals are simply to have meaningful and/or fun conversations, and to make sure that fun is accessible to everyone, regardless of gender, race, nationality, (dis)ability or otherwise.

How do I subscribe to the Modcast?
There is a subscribe button at the bottom of every page (including this one)!

Can I reach out to one team member specifically?

Do the Modcasters accept fanmail and fanart?
We are definitely down to receive fanmail and fanart. The more mustaches the better! Send them to our email, modcast.ell@gmail.com.

Do the Modcasters sell merch?
At this particular moment in time, we do not. But we have plans to create and sell merch with our logo in the near future! Keep checking back or subscribe to stay up to date!

What are Transcripts?
Simply put, transcripts are the rendering of audio into text. We create transcripts for each of our modcasts to make them accessible to those who need it.

What is Alt Text?
Simply put, alt text describes images for people who can’t see them. Some use speech-to-text software or screenreaders that can’t pick up on images, including screenshots and photos. We create alt text and/or captions for each of our images.

Why can’t I access the alt text?
Alt text is often not visible except to those who have accessibility devices or accessibility settings enabled.

Can I submit art to the Modcast?
At this particular moment in time, we do not accept art submissions for the Modcast page. We do, however, accept images placed in blog submissions. See the guidelines and instructions here.

Why do I have to include alt text for my images?
Alt text makes images accessible for those who cannot see them. Some blind/low vision people use devices such as speech-to-text software and screenreaders to navigate sites, which don’t work on images. You can learn more about alt text here.
